This scholarship is in honor of the late, Barbara Brown Massey, a faithful, life serving (30+ years) MAAC member. The scholarship is sponsored by her family and administered by Metro Atlanta Chapter to deserving students majoring in Education at AAMU.
Barbara graduate from AAMU in 1969 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics. She went on to serve as an elementary school teacher in the Georgia (Clayton County) Public School System for over 30 years, receiving several awards & recognitions, including Teacher of the Year and Who's Who Among America's Teachers.
As a dedicated chapter member, she worked diligently with the membership committee, Homecoming Tailgate initiative and the Annual Heritage and Legacy Scholarship Gala.
Scholarship Overview
This scholarship is open to high school seniors and current AAMU students who meet the following criteria:

Resident of Metro Atlanta

Majoring in Education at Alabama A&M University

Minimum 2.80 cumulative GPA (on 4.0 scale)

Participation in extra-curricular activities, community service, and/or community service

AAMU acceptance letter from the University or proof of enrollment (current students)

Financial Need
$20,000 awarded from 2022 to present
